USA Bicycle Brand Closures 2025
The US bicycle market experienced its most significant consolidation in decades during 2025. A total of 104 brands exited the market, reducing the total brand count from a peak of 961 in 2022 to just 771 by year-end 2025.
This consolidation follows several years of pandemic-era oversupply followed by demand normalization. Brands that expanded aggressively in 2020–2021 found themselves holding excess inventory as demand returned to pre-pandemic levels.
Despite the reduction in brand count, the average units per brand actually increased from approximately 12,000 to 13,500, suggesting the market is consolidating around stronger, more efficient operators.
